Welcome to Chilly Bear Creative Exchange Programme. The programme aims to bridge the gap between communities in Britain and Baffin Island through creative meduims; animation, collage, written stories, drawing, paintings, songs and video as well as sculpture and much more. By telling stories through engaging mediums I hope to inspire the young people of Britain to care about our fragile environment that surrounds us. By telling them about the effects on the Inuit people on Baffin Island; how its changing their way of life we can bridge the gap.
Several schools in derbyshire are already onboard, with bespoke programmes designed for each school; dependent on their projects and timetables. If you would like to get involved please get in contact.
The expedition to Baffin Island is planned to depart at the end of July and run for 4-5 weeks. The team is made up of ten people, some university students who hope to gain knowledge to use in their dissertations, and others who are simple interested in the Arctic region and want to make a difference. Whilst on expedition the team can answer questions by the satalite phone. Not only that we will be creating educational videos for schools to use, taking visual footage of any damage created by climate change, and possibly taking scientific readings which can also be used within schools.
The information gained on the expedition is up to date, exciting readings that students can see happening during our time out on Baffin Island.
Drawings from Hapurhill Primary School
Hapurhill Primary have been working very hard; the children have created poems, drawings and pastel works which are shown around the school.
The next planned project is to create a large sculpture made of tissue paper and wire. Watch this space!
